Northwest National Laboratory, on behalf of the U.S. Department of Energy's
Building America Program, worked with Champion Enterprises, Precision
Building Products, Premier Building Systems, and other partners to build
a manufactured home from energy-efficient foam core panels. The house,
which was built in mid June 2000, is the result of over three years of
collaborative planning. This section lists descriptions and links to each
of our key partners. More information can be found on each of their Websites.
At the bottom of the page is a Web diagram of our project showing our
partners and the contributions they are making. PNNL's role was to bring
together and coordinate the project team. PNNL helped to broker the partners
contributions and organize workshops and meetings to address technical
and logistical issues. PNNL is preparing to monitor the manufactured home
and conduct further modeling to better evaulate energy performance and
cost effectiveness for consumers and energy planners. |

Building America is a private/public
partnership that provides energy solutions for production housing. The
Building America Program combines the knowledge and resources of industry
leaders with the U.S. Department of Energy's technical capabilities to
act as a catalyst for change in the home building industry. |
|
Champion Enterprises,
Inc. is the world's largest homebuilder. Since the company was founded
in 1953, Champion has built more than 1.4 million homes. Champion's homes
are sold under a number of different brand names and are distributed through
280 company-owned retail centers and more than 1,000 Alliance of Champions
retail locations. The company generated sales of $2.5 billion and net
income of $50 million in 1999. |
|
Founded in 1968, Premier Building Systems is North America's
largest manufacturer and exporter of SIPs. Premier Panels frame over 2,000
residential structures each year. The Premier facility in Fife, Washington
is supporting this project. |
|
Precision Panel Structures
started manufacturing SIPs in November 1995 in Eagle, Idaho. They began
with the understanding that if SIPs were going to be a viable building
alternative to the marketplace, they needed to offer better service and
more services than any other SIP manufacturer. |
